English Trifle with out the beef


Who remembers the "Friends" Thanksgiving episode when Rachel accidentally combines 2 recipes ending up with an English Trifle with beef? Even though Joey loved it, I find a pure English Trifle, with out the beef, the way to go!!! What is driving all of this English Trifle talk? The "Friends" reunion airs this Sunday, February 21 and what better way to celebrate as you watch then to celebrate with an English Trifle!

English Trifle

  • 1 cup mashed strawberries

  • 2 cups sliced fresh strawberries

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • 2 cups sliced firm bananas

  • 1 small can chunk pineapple

  • 1 prepared angel food cake (8 to 10 ounces), cut into 1-inch cubes

  • 2 cups cold milk

  • 1 package (1 ounce) instant vanilla pudding mix

  • 1 carton (8 ounces) whipped topping, thawed

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, combine mashed strawberries and sugar; set aside. Drain pineapple, reserving 1/4 cup juice; cut pineapple chunks in half and set aside. Toss banana slices with reserved pineapple juice; set aside.

  2. Make pudding according to the instructions

  3. In a 3-qt. trifle bowl, layer half of each of the following: cake cubes, mashed strawberries, banana, pineapples, and sliced strawberries, pudding. Repeat layers

  4. Spread whipped cream over trifle
